Biography
Lidietta Giorno is serving as the Director of the Institute on Membrane Technology of the National Research Council of Italy, ITM-CNR since 2009. She has been involved in membrane science, engineering research and development some 25 years, being involved in research co-operations at European and international level. She awarded The International Awards "Guido Dorso" for Research in 2011, sponsored by the Italian Senate and the University of Naples Federico II. She awarded the Sapio Red Carpet Award in 2016 among the female scientists of highest scientific profile who are engaged for the development of the Country. She worked abroad in the USA at Sepracor Inc. 1992; in The Netherlands at ATO-DLO, 1994; in France, at The University of Compiegne 1997 and 2000. She is Visiting Porfessor at Tianjin University of Science and Technology, China, since 2008. Lidietta Giorno is co-author of several books, over 100 peer reviewed scientific papers in international journals, and co-editor of the Encyclopedia of Membranes, Springer, 2016. She is member of editorial board of scientific journals, member of the referee pool of scientific journals and research agencies, member of international committees and several scientific societies. She has served as member of the Board of Directors of the European Membrane House – EMH, (Belgium), born to continue the activity of the NanoMemPro Network of Excellence funded by the European Commission within the FP6. She has served on the European Membrane Society Council as the President of the EMS Council and the Editor of the EMS Membrane Newsletter. She was nominated Honorary Member of the European Membrane Society in 2014

Biography
Twenty five years of industrial experience in Wastewater Treatment (ECOTECHNOS INC.), Energy Transformation, Liquid and Solid Fuels (ESSO); coal combustion and environmental pollution (ONTARIO HYDRO); pressurised fluid bed combustion (ENDESA). Twenty-two years of experience in the development of technologies for water/wastewater treatment including fixed film bioreactors; nitrification-denitrification in rotating biological contactors and fluidized beds; nutrient removal (phosphorous and nitrogen) in wastewater; President of Ecotechnos Inc. (Toronto). The firm designs and manufactures advanced wastewater treatment plants for small and medium-size industries. Ecotechnos develops and manufactures compact, modular fixed film technologies for the treatment of wastewater from food processing industries, subdivisions, tourist resorts, shopping centres and in general for the replacement or upgrading of obsolete facilities like septic tanks, ponds and conventional activated sludge facilities.Extensive experience in the design, and execution of technology development programs: technology transfer and evaluation with major energy corporations; development of strategic alliances with the private sector and Government agencies; consulting services; technical and economic feasibility studies. Chairman of numerous congresses and international conferences and author of over fifty technical papers and international presentations. Co-author and Co-editor of the book “Pressurized Fluid Bed Combustionâ€, Chapman & Hall (1995). Author of five patents (One pending) on bioreactors applied to the removal of BOD and nutrients from wastewater. Twenty four years of research and academic experience as university professor in Canada, Spain and Iberoamerica: Ryerson University, U. of Western Ontario, U of Waterloo, U. of Guelph, U of Windsor (Canada); U.Politécnica de Madrid ( Spain),), U de Cartagena (Colombia), Corporacion Universitaria de la Costa(Colombia ), Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Colombia).

Biography
Dr. Roger M. Leblanc received a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry from Université Laval in 1964, followed by a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry in 1968. Then, he obtained a postdoc position at the Royal Institution of Great Britain for two years before moving to the University of Québec, Trois-Rivières, Canada, where he spent 20+ years of studying photobiophysics. He moved his research to the University of Miami in 1994. Dr. Leblanc is Professor and Chair of Chemistry Department at University of Miami. And his research interests are centered on biophotophysics, spectroscopy and surface chemistry and he has published 502 research articles related to these topics and has guided more than 100 Ph.D. and M.Sc.
